A Pochade Box solves the problem of carrying all the supplies, paints, brushes, and canvas with you when you paint outdoors. From the French word poche, which means pocket, pochades are small sketches or paintings that can be carried easily. Guerilla Painter boxes are one of the better-known brands of pochades and they also make a variety of accessories. These are ideal for working in oils, watercolors, acrylics or pastels.
These boxes are tremedously versatle, since they can be used as a lap easel, table easel, or a portable plein air box. Pochades boxes have room for storing supplies and man have a removable pallet included, as well as and slots to stow canvas painting panels. Perfect for painting outdoors, these will work great when traveling - the box can be placed on one’s lap, or a table top, or can be attached to a camera tripod with 1/4 20 standard thread screw which makes it function like a standing easel.
